Employee Life Insurance

Our life insurance program is designed to provide a payment to your beneficiary in the event of your death. The life insurance program has two parts.

Non-Contributory
Basic Life Insurance - The University provides you with basic life insurance in the amount of $5,000 at not cost to you.

Contributory
Optional Life Insurance - You can purchase up to 3 times your basic annual earning up to a maximum of $500,000*.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) This insurance provides your beneficiary with added protection in case of your accidental death and/or a benefit payable to you in case of a dismemberment.*  Coverage will be available if you elect contributory life insurance.  The amount of coverage is the same as the amount of coverage for contributory life insurance.  Various lesser amounts are paid for dismemberment.

Dependent Life Insurance This insurance is available to you as follows:

  • You can purchase $5,000 of life insurance for a spouse or same-sex domestic partner.
  • You can purchase $1,000 of life insurance for eligible dependent children.
  • Coverage will be available if you elect contributory life insurance.
*Any amount over $300,000 is subject to Evidence of Insurability.  If not elected within 31 days after date of hire, employee must provide EOI.
