Policies Tuition Exchange Program

FOR STUDENTS WISHING TO COME TO ADELPHI
UNDER THE TUITION EXCHANGE PROGRAM

The Tuition Exchange Organization has over 600 colleges and universities in the United States participating in this scholarship program.  Adelphi University has been a member for thirty-one years, granting scholarships to qualified students from a wide representation of these institutions.

We welcome applications from students whose parents are employed by institutions that are members of the Tuition Exchange Program.

The following guidelines will be helpful:

  1. It is necessary for the student to submit the Tuition Exchange application to the Tuition Exchange liaison at their home school. Once approved there, it will be processed electronically to Adelphi.
  2. The student must also apply to the Adelphi University Office of Admissions in order to be formally accepted for undergraduate matriculation.
  3. Once the student has been accepted through Adelphi’s Admissions Office, then a determination will be made on granting the Tuition Exchange scholarship.

FOR DEPENDENT CHILDREN OF ADELPHI EMPLOYEES
INTERESTED IN TUITION EXCHANGE

Adelphi University is in its thirty-fourth year of participation in the Tuition Exchange Program.  Dependent children of full-time employees with at least four (4) years of full-time employment at Adelphi are eligible to apply for undergraduate Tuition Exchange scholarships to any of the 600 participating colleges and universities in the United States.  Upon request, you must be able to provide the student’s financial dependence on the parent(s).  Dependent children who already possess a bachelor’s degree are not eligible to participate in the Tuition Exchange Program.  Successful candidates must be accepted for registration at these institutions for the fall 2013 semester.  Tuition exchange scholarships are awarded for a period of one year and must be re-applied for on an annual basis.  Awards are based on GPA, SAT/ACT scores, etc. (see application for specific documentation), which are evaluated by the Tuition Exchange Committee.

The Tuition Exchange Committee at Adelphi University will receive applications for scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year (or either semester of that year), but the student should be applying now to any college or university he or she hopes to enter in fall 2013.

Please be aware that:

  1. It is the student’s responsibility to gain acceptance to the Tuition Exchange college or university for the 2013-2014 academic year.
  2. If a student is awarded a T.E. scholarship by Adelphi, this scholarship is contingent upon the import school approving the student through the rules and requirements of their Tuition Exchange Program. Please note, each institution uses its own acceptance formula and deadlines for granting T.E. awards.

Information regarding the Tuition Exchange Scholarship and a complete list of participating schools is available at: www.tuitionexchange.org and please review the Application form and Guidelines/Criteria for further information.  Application forms are also available from the Office of Human Resources.

Also review TE-GO (Tuition Exchange Grant Opportunity), which supplements the Tuition Exchange scholarship for those who qualify.

All materials must be submitted to my attention at Levermore Hall, Room 203 by December 12, 2012.

Supplement Your TE Scholarship

2013 - 2014 Academic Year

TE-GO (Tuition Exchange Grant Opportunity)

The Board of Directors of the Tuition Exchange has established a scholarship fund for TE scholars, or prospective scholars, from low-income families. TE-GO (Tuition Exchange Grant Opportunity) is for $2,500 a year for up to four years, a total of $10,000. It supplements TE scholarships and can be used for tuition and non-tuition items associated with the cost of attendance at a college or university. The TE-GO grants will be paid directly to the institution awarding the basic TE scholarship.

At this point, TE candidates are not required to have final TE award offers. TE eligibility is all that is needed. This scholarship is offered to four exported students in the entire national program, who are selected by a panel appointed by the Tuition Exchange Board of Directors. Adelphi University may submit one nomination.

The deadline for applications will be February 2013. (The exact date to be announced by the Tuition Exchange Organization.)

When the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) amount is released by the Tuition Exchange Organization we will be happy to forward that information to you, upon request.

If you want your child to be considered for a TE-GO scholarship, please contact Lisa Araujo, (516) 877-3224.
