The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is directed by Associate Provost, Michael Breton. Dr. Breton received his Ph.D. in Psychology (Sensation, Perception and Psychophysics) from the University of Chicago in 1975 following graduation from Amherst College, cum laude, in 1971. He did post-doctoral work at Columbia University (NIH Fellowship, 1975-77) and the National Research Council of Canada (1978-79). In 1979-80, he became a Congressional Science and Technology Fellow, working on social science research funding issues through the National Science Foundation. From 1980 to 1995, he has held faculty positions at Wills Eye Hospital, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology. Since 1995 he has held administrative positions, most recently as Associate Vice President for Research and Sponsored Programs at Rutgers University. In these positions he has accumulated extensive experience in research administration, compliance and technology transfer.
