Letter from Dr. Scott to the Parents of Adelphi Students
September 28, 2001

Dear Parent,

The events of the past few weeks have been very difficult for our county, our communities, and our students. We join with each of you in grieving for those who lost their lives and in offering sympathy to their families. Please be assured that the Adelphi family is committed to providing your student with the support and assistance they may need.

We have counselors meeting with students and reaching out to members of our community. We have held town meetings, prayer services and other public forums to help deal with these events. In addition, blood drives, fundraising and other community service activities have been planned and carried out by students, faculty, and staff.

On another note, we hope that you plan to join us for Family Weekend activities (October 12-14). You should have received information on the weekend earlier this month. (Please call 516.877.3603 for Family Weekend information.)

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call 516.877.3660, or send an e-mail to our special address: parents@adelphi.edu. Our staff is always available to assist you as well as our students.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Robert A. Scott
President, Adelphi University
