Marcia G. Welsh is senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at Adelphi University, with responsibility for all academic, curricular, and faculty affairs at the University. She received her Ph.D. in anatomy from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1978. She then held the position of assistant professor of anatomy at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Welsh taught in the anatomical sciences for many years while pursuing research in the field of neuroendocrine morphology and physiology. After moving through the faculty ranks to professor, Dr. Welsh served as the interim chair of the Department of Developmental Biology and Anatomy. Prior to joining Adelphi in June, 2001, Dr. Welsh held the positions of associate provost and dean of the Graduate School at the University of South Carolina.
