September 13, 2009
On September 13, 2009, an Adelphi University student was a victim of a sexual assault (forcible touching) in her residence hall by an acquaintance she had met while on a Social Networking site. The student was not injured and the incident is currently being investigated.

September 3, 2009
On September 3, 2009 at approximately 7:05 p.m. two (2) vehicles were broken into by way of breaking a side window. One vehicle had a purse removed. No reported property was taken from the second vehicle at this time. A similar incident occurred the same date at the Garden City Pool parking field between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Also, there were incidents of criminal mischief and larceny at the Garden City Pool parking field over the summer.
On August 13, 2009 at approximately 9:50 a.m. there was a purse also taken from a vehicle where illegal entry was made by breaking the window.
Public Safety has stepped up patrols since the August incident and will continue to pay special attention to the area. Garden City Police are actively investigating the incidents.

The university community should take safety precautions when parking vehicles.
- Always secure your vehicle and do not leave anything in open view.
- Place items in your trunk or take them with you.
- Do not leave anything in view that a person may want to break into the vehicle to steal. Examples may be shopping bags, books, purses, backpacks, clothing, or even loose change.

May 12, 2009
On Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at approximately 4:15 p.m., an unknown male entered the 1st floor Blodgett Hall women's restroom and attempted to
take pictures or video of a female in the bathroom stall. The unknown male was last seen running towards Waldo Hall. There was no contact between
the parties. The Adelphi Public Safety and Garden City Police Department responded and are investigating.
Garden City Police Suspect:
Male Asian, 17-20 years old, 5'6'', short dark black hair, medium complexion, light brown shirt, long light colored blue jeans, white with orange and
blue sneakers.

- Be alert and aware of your surroundings. If you detect any suspicious activity and are concerned about your safety, immediately respond to a

- Use the buddy system, don't walk alone especially at night.
- Don't resist a robbery attempt.
- Don't leave your door open or unlocked for any period of time.

February 20, 2007: Aggravated Harassment
On Tuesday, February 20, 2007 an Adelphi University residential student reported to the Public Safety Department that she had received anonymous phone threats on her cell phone. University officials contacted the Garden City Police Department and implemented several security measures. Adelphi will fully and actively cooperate with the police investigation as it progresses. The University is strongly committed to the safety of its students, faculty and staff.

- Don’t allow any individuals into your resident hall or room if you do not know who they are.
- Keep your doors locked at all times.
- Do not enter or remain with a stranger in an elevator if you feel unsafe.
- Be alert and aware of your surroundings. If you detect any suspicious activity and are concerned about your safety, immediately respond to a location where you can call for assistance. (ex. emergency phones, emergency Call boxes.)
- Do not post any personal information on a public web site such as myspace.com and facebook.com (ex. Name, phone number, address etc.)
- If you become alarmed or suspicious about any unusual activity or have information regarding an incident, call the Department of Public Safety and Transportation for assistance at 516-877-3511 (off campus) or dial "5" from any campus phone.

October 21, 2006: Burglary
On Saturday, October 21, 2006 at approximately 8:15 p.m. an Adelphi student confronted an unknown male in his room on campus. The unknown male removed several personal items from the room prior to him leaving the building. There were no injuries or weapons.
Nassau County Police Suspect:
- Male black, average build, 6'3", 200lbs, brown eyes, black hair, dark hooded sweatshirt, dred locks & grey ski cap.
For your Safety:
- Don't allow any individual into your apartment or building if you do not know who they are.
- Keep your doors locked at all times.
- Do not leave valuable items unattended.
- Do not enter or remain with a stranger in an elevator if you feel unsafe.
- Don't leave your door open or unlocked for any period of time.
